Tokyo-based four-piece rock band fulusu has released their new EP Birth in vitro via Oaiko. Following their previous work Sanbi ni Uzuku Aza, the band revisited and reexamined their own mode of expression and worldview, reconstructing them from the ground up. In contrast to the prior release—which incorporated external collaborations—this EP was created solely by the four members. The result is a work that delves deeper into the pure core of fulusu. The title Birth in vitro carries the nuance of “being born within glass.” Centered around themes of loneliness and weariness that arise in today’s technology- and information-saturated society, the EP portrays a sense of suffocating confinement—like the inside of a flask clouding over with each heavy breath—through explosive sound and tense ensemble performances. It marks a new phase for the band, capturing their current state and signaling the beginning of their next chapter.
